I Don’t Mind You Being Ugly and Blind: Chapter 65

As dusk settled, painting the sky with the last hints of twilight, Jiang Ci’s car pulled up to the brightly lit villa. He noticed Su Yue sleeping peacefully beside him. Instead of waking her, he gently nudged Jiang Haoyan, who roused with a dazed “Dad?”

“Get out of the car yourself,” Jiang Ci whispered, his voice low.

Little Haohao, seeing Su Yue asleep, mimicked his father’s hushed tone. “Is she asleep?”

“Hmm.” Jiang Ci opened the car door for his son, who, now fully awake, exclaimed, “Dad, Haohao will show you the way!” and trotted ahead.

The driver, witnessing Jiang Ci carefully lift the sleeping Su Yue into his arms, offered, “Master, do you need my help?”

“No!” Jiang Ci’s reply was curt as he carried Su Yue inside, little Haohao dutifully pulling at his clothes and leading the way.

Jiang Xuan, observing this scene, was taken aback. Jiang Ci’s actions continued to defy her understanding of him. Her agent, equally surprised, remarked on Su Yue’s unexpected internet fame. “On the hot search side, it still maintains the top ten… it’s a waste of your sister-in-law not to enter the entertainment industry. She appeared on the Internet once, and the last time she was on the top search , she was obviously born to eat this bowl of rice.”

Jiang Xuan’s gaze dropped. “She won’t enter the entertainment industry. The Jiang family doesn’t allow both daughters-in-law to enter the entertainment industry.”

“That’s a pity,” the agent sighed, acknowledging the unspoken rules of wealthy families regarding the entertainment industry.

Jiang Ci gently laid Su Yue on the bed. His phone buzzed; a subordinate was calling to inform him about the paparazzi photos that had surfaced online, capturing him and Su Yue.

He scrolled through the comments, a sneer twisting his lips. “Ah, ah, it turns out that the famous flower has a master, but why is this master so ugly?” “Miss is so beautiful, why is her man so ugly? My mother, this man’s face is so scary.” The comments were merciless, branding him ugly and unworthy of Su Yue.

Ugly? Beast? Not worthy of Su Yue? Jiang Ci’s dark eyes deepened. A bunch of superficial people. He reached out to wake Su Yue, but his fingers hesitated as they brushed her soft, smooth cheek. The contrast between her delicate skin and the uneven scar on his own face was stark.

Suddenly, Su Yue stirred, waking with a start. “Jiang Ci?” Her voice was hoarse, her head spinning. She realized she was pressed beneath him. “Jiang Ci, you are pressing me.”

He lifted himself, keeping one hand braced on the bed and the other gently holding her hand to his Scared face. “Su Yue, I’m not feeling well here, kiss me.”

In her feverish haze, Su Yue complied, lifting her head to kiss his left cheek, her lips brushing the scar. “Okay, kiss is your’s,” she whispered. The soft, warm touch sent a jolt through Jiang Ci. A rare smile touched his lips. He leaned in for another kiss.

“Jiang Ci!” Su Yue’s hand stopped him. “Jiang Ci, I’m dizzy.” She guided his hand to her forehead. “Is it hot?”

Her skin was burning. He realized she had a fever.

Lu Chenli, panting, rushed in. He’d been dragged away from a date. “She may have a fever caused by heat stroke.” He pulled out a thermometer. “We need to measure her temperature, Can I do it or you ?”

Jiang Ci took the thermometer, his gaze cold. “How to use it?”

“Put it under her armpit and let her hold it,” Lu Chenli instructed.

Jiang Ci carefully placed the thermometer under Su Yue’s arm. His fingers brushed her skin, and his eyes darkened before he stood and walked towards the study.

Lu Chenli followed. As Jiang Ci twisted the doorknob, the study lights flickered on. “Your eyes…” Lu Chenli gasped, his suspicion confirmed.

“Yes they are Okay,” Jiang Ci replied, turning to face him.

“Hey!” Lu Chenli quickly moved closer, examining Jiang Ci’s eyes. Moments later, he clapped Jiang Ci’s shoulder. “My God! From when will it be like this ?”

“A while ago.” Jiang Ci shrugged off his hand.

Lu Chenli pushed up his glasses. “Your eyes were burned at the time, but the eyeballs were not injured or damaged. Logically, your eyes are fine, but you have been blind… and now, it has suddenly recovered, it’s really weird. But there are so many miracles in medicine that it makes sense to extrapolate without common sense.” He was genuinely thrilled. “All in all, this is a good thing, do the others know?”

“Keep it a secret for now,” Jiang Ci said lazily.

“Okay, I know.” Lu Chenli understood. “What about Su Yue? Does she know?”

Jiang Ci simply looked at him.

“Su Yue doesn’t know either?” Lu Chenli rubbed his chin, a smile playing on his lips. “You hide such an important matter from her, don’t blame me for not reminding you, women are stingy.”

Jiang Ci’s gaze was cold. “Mind your own business.”

“Okay, okay, I mind my own business,” Lu Chenli conceded, anticipating the day Jiang Ci would face Su Yue’s wrath.

He took the thermometer. “38.5 degrees,” he announced. “It’s a high fever. I’ll prescribe some medicine, you haven’t eaten yet, let the kitchen cook some porridge, make her eat it lightly, and when she’s finished, let her take medicine and drink more warm water.” Lu Chenli gave detailed instructions, knowing Jiang Ci wouldn’t.

“Um.”

At the dining table, little Haohao, his face flushed from his car nap, asked, “Dad, why hasn’t she woken up yet?”

“She is sick.”

“Ah.” Haohao’s eyes widened. “we need injections and medicines when get sick.”

“You go to eat first.”

“Okay,” Haohao replied, heading to the dining table.

Jiang Ci leaned down and touched Su Yue’s forehead; it was still hot. “Su Yue, get up to eat, take medicine and then sleep.” He pulled back the quilt. She was still in her light yellow top, her cheeks flushed, looking like a delicate, tempting snack. He leaned down, gently biting her nose.

A sharp pain woke Su Yue. She stared at him, tears welling in her eyes. “Jiang Ci, why are you biting me?” Her voice was a hoarse, like apitiful whisper.

“I called you but you did’nt budge , so I had to wake you up like this.” He brushed a strand of hair from her face. “Get up to eat, then take medicine.”

Su Yue’s throat burned. She shook her head. “I don’t want to eat.”

“You can’t take medicine if you don’t eat, don’t take medicine, oh, you will have a fever and become a fool,” Jiang Ci said, pinching her hot cheek. “You want to be a fool? Well I don’t mind.”

Su Yue turned her face away, refusing to look at him.

Jiang Ci stood up, but soon returned with a bowl of porridge. “Su Yue, open your mouth,” he commanded.

Su Yue saw the fragrant lean meat, scallop, and mushroom porridge. She was truly hungry. “I’ll do it myself.”

Jiang Ci didn’t relent. “Don’t make trouble, I’ll feed you, I can’t see, you eat with your mouth open, you know?”

She opened her mouth, letting him feed her. The warm porridge soothed her throat, and despite Jiang Ci’s somewhat clumsy movements, she ate well.

Little Haohao, having finished his meal, came overand start talking like a little adult. “You have to eat obediently, and then take medicine, so that it will get better soon.” He then gave her some old-fashioned advice: “If the medicine is bitter, you won’t be afraid to swallow it with your eyes closed.”

Su Yue chuckled, her voice still hoarse. “Okay, I see.”

The porridge bowl was soon empty. Su Yue eyed the medicine in Jiang Ci’s hand. “Put Jiang Ci first, I’ll take it later,” she whispered.

“Afraid of taking medicine?” Jiang Ci sneered, mimicking his son’s advice. “If the medicine is bitter, you won’t be afraid if you swallow it with your eyes closed.”

Su Yue’s face burned even hotter. She wasn’t afraid of bitter tea, but pills always seemed to get stuck, turning incredibly bitter.

“You pick up the water glass yourself, and I will feed the medicine into your mouth,” Jiang Ci instructed.

“Wait a minute.” Su Yue frowned, shaking her head.

“Su Yue, you’re not a child, don’t be willful.” Jiang Ci leaned in, ready to force the medicine on her.

Su Yue threw her arms around his neck. “Wait a minute, I’ll eat it myself later, okay?” she pleaded.

“It’s useless to act like a spoiled child!” Jiang Ci tried to pull her away.

Su Yue, in a desperate move, kissed his lips. “Just for a while, let me do some mental preparation, otherwise, what if the medicine gets stuck in my
